Illingelethu Community Is Craving For Justice!
Illingelethu is a part of the location in Malmesbury; Malmesbury is not just a town in Swartland but the largest and the headquarters. Swartland is approximately 65 km north of Cape Town which is the capital of Western Cape. This town Malmesbury is a place where the people of all the races can live together without stress though the Malmesbury's town is dominated by white people while the location is populated by mixed/coloured and black people.
Illingelethu that used to be peaceful part of the Malmesbury location is the place known right now as zone where young women, teenagers and under-age are been raped and police are not helping matters! And recently women have sworn that they will no longer keep mute on the numerous rape cases which involve under-age and teenagers mainly! Below are the few rape cases i knew of...
There was this particular rape case that made people of the Illingelethu to think twice! The rape was done by a man called Paul on the last week of December 2017! This man forced a 10 year old girl to sleep with him and even went as far as asking the teenager to do BLOWJOB on him! The teenager was a neighbour to Paul and she was asked to bring in shovel and she obeyed not knowing that the man got other intentions! Immediately she went inside the house, she was tied; both the hands and the two legs apart! The mouth was tied to make her not to shout and according to the teenager, there was a knife and scissors! She was warned not to shout or she will be killed! Paul even went as far as threatening to wipe away all the members of her family if anyone heard about the rape incident!
The most annoying part of it was that few months after the rapist was thrown behind bars, the magistrate court in Malmesbury released Paul from Prison on the ground that there was not enough evidence even after the teenager boldly told the court that the man got few pimples on his manhood which she saw during the forcefully blowjob! And funny part of it was that it was not the first time she's been raped by the same man whom the magistrate granted bail because of "not enough" evidence!
Without remorse, On the 4th of August 2018, a teenager of about 14 year old was raped on a lonely riverine by a young man who went to Illingelethu to visit his uncle. The young man visited from Cape Town. I was made to understand that it was easier for the man to rape because many kids were been looked after in the young man's uncle's house!
The young man sent the teenager on an errand but followed her behind at a distance until she got to the lonely riverine area that Illingelethu women have been protesting against because it's not a safe place to walk on, especially at night! This young man of 25 years assaulted the teenager which affected the girl emotionally and physically!
On 21st August 2018, Many women that were numbering more than 300 marched to the magistrate court to make sure that his bail will be denied and that was his first appearance in the magistrate court to apply for bail on the condition that he has two kids to take care of, which was denied by the magistrate and postponed the case until 25th of October 2018. This particular news was on the Swartland Gazette of 28th August 2018. www.bolandgazette.co.za
Unimaginably, on Sunday 9th of September 2018 a young girl was raped by her step brother by their parents marriage! It happened that they were planning on the upcoming ceremony of their late father and in the process i guess the devil took control of him and he forcefully rape his own sister of the same father and held her neck trying to strangle her to death before the girl's younger brother of the same father and mother came in and rescued her.
The police was involved, and he was arrested though police wanted to free him on the ground that you can't spend more than 48 hours in the police custody without being charged to court but the women of the community heard about it and a protest was staged led by Mrs. Noluthando Beja (known as Mama Beja) which made the police to take him to court that same day and the magistrate denied him bail and postponed the case until 22nd of September 2018.
The least but might not be the last was the recent one, on 15th of September 2018, a woman was raped by her ex boyfriend who visited from Kraaifontein in Northern suburb of Cape Town. The ex boyfriend came in when the lady was in the bathroom, he held her neck and dragged her to the bed before blowing white substance on her face and instantly she lost consciousness while he took his time to rape her to his satisfaction! It didn't end there, he went ahead and cut out some flesh from the vagina part and left her to bleed non stop, locked her alone in the house and left! The woman was saved by a neighbour in hearing her screaming in pains after regaining consciousness 3 hours later!
The police were called immediately her neighbor saw her in the pool of her blood but the police arrived after 3 good hours and then the ambulance arrived exactly an hour after the police! On the arrival of the ambulance, they insisted that the forensic ambulance was the people to take her to the hospital because the woman's case was really a terrible one! The man in question was long gone, so no arrest has been made so far! the lady was taken to the hospital by forensic ambulance in a very bad deadly situation!
This particular evil act forced the same Mrs. Noluthando Beja (Mama Beja) and Ms. Sabela Rasineni to organized a rally which made all the members of the community to be all out on 17th of September 2018 and fully participated and nobody from the community was allowed to go to work because on the said date all the roads leading to Illingelethu was blocked with burning tyres, and the community stood together while they tried to get attention from maybe well organisation or any of government organization or department since according to them Malmesbury Police department has failed to make the community a safe place for the women and kids!
